8 February 2022 : Remembering Valentine's Day
February is truly a month of romance, especially with 14th February dedicated to Valentine’s Day.
However, many people do not fully realize that we could also take this period of time to spend with loved ones and close friends.
Several years ago, my father accidentally slipped on a flight of steps in a shopping mall whilst he was out with his friend, and he hit his head while falling. He was rushed to the ER and when I reached there to check on him, he was already unconscious. My dad passed away six hours later. I was angry, sad and in shock when that happened as I did not even have the opportunity to bid him farewell.
Upon reflection, I am surely glad for all those times I had purposely set aside to spend time with him and to celebrate his birthdays every year he was alive; otherwise, I would have regretted this for the rest of my life and it would have hurt me dearly. My only regret that remains is that I did not say goodbye to him whilst he was conscious.
This season, you definitely have to express your romantic love for that special someone who completes you; and of course, if you are still looking for that person or have chosen to remain single, then you must also spend time loving and pampering an important person – You!
This is also a good season for us to spend time with our close family and friends, those we have inadvertently taken for granted because we have simply been too busy with the “rat race”. Afterall, the rat race rewards us with material things we cannot bring along when we ourselves say goodbye to this world, but many believe, relationships will still be there when all’s said and done.
